OUR STORY
Minot grew out of a love affair with Europe. During my travels, I soaked up all the deliciousness, ate all the pasta, and drank all the wine. I expected to feel worse for this indulgence, but instead, I felt better; lighter and more energized. This paradox led me down a path toward understanding the impact of chemicals in our food and lifestyle products and drove me to embrace a low-tox lifestyle.
For me, candles have always been associated with calm, warmth, and welcome. The flickering light, the crackling wick. And of course, the scent. As my husband and I settled into our home on the South Shore of Massachusetts, I found myself searching for non-toxic versions of the candles I loved. Distrusting mainstream products, I constantly checked ingredient lists only to find many instances of greenwashing.
The truly non-toxic candles I did find had scents that lacked complexity. Determined to find a more layered alternative, I taught myself to blend oils and make my own candles. It was a little like creating scent poetry. When I gifted them to family and friends and saw the delight they brought, the Minot journey began to unfold.

What’s in a name?
MINOT is named after Minot’s Light, an historic lighthouse off the coast of Cohasset and Scituate, Massachusetts. Locals call it the “I Love You” lighthouse because its 1-4-3 light signal matches the number of letters in each word of “I LOVE YOU.” (Our 1-4-3 candle is inspired by the lighthouse’s signal!)
For our founder Kerry, Minot’s Light is more than a romantic landmark: It’s a daily source of inspiration, visible from her home and deeply woven into her life’s most cherished moments. It’s where she was engaged, married, and celebrated her daughter’s baptism.
And while locals know how to pronounce “Minot,” others might guess it’s French — a delightful nod to Kerry’s love of French culture. Regardless of whether you say it “MY-nit” or with a French flair, we hope MINOT’s spirit of love and joy brings a touch of warmth and light into your home.
